The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango)
Just like many of the pre show matches we are presented with, I don’t care too much for this match. I’d like to see Breezango win this one though. I like both guys, even if I don’t like their gimmick. One positive is that they actually have a thing or two to do in the ring.
Zack Ryder vs Rusev for the United States Championship
As much as I’d love to see Zack Ryder win two championships in just 6 months, I don’t see it happening. Rusev should go over here, and Raw will get the US Championship.
Darren Young vs The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship
Like before, I want to see a new champion here, but I see no reason for it to change hands tonight. The winner of this match will go hand in hand with the winner of the US Championship. Raw will have one exclusive title and SmackDown will have the other. Either both Champions, or both challengers are winning here to even it out.
Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman) vs The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods)
I’ve both enjoyed and hated the build up to this match. I did enjoy the New Day visiting Wyatt’s compound a few weeks back on Raw as it finally gave us a video package that was a little different. Whilst it wasn’t made perfectly, and didn’t make too much sense, it’s more creativity we get to see on our screens and I’m all for that.
With the draft splitting the Wyatts up, it only makes sense to put them over. However WWE are prone to confusing us, so maybe we’ll see one last win for the family being together?
Becky Lynch vs Natalya
When we first found out Natalya turned heel on Becky, I didn’t really want to see it. I love it now though. Natalya has been a face for years now, so it’s nice to freshen things up again and see her up her intensity even more. I can see Becky Lynch winning here though. As Becky mentioned on the night of the draft, what is there for the women’s roster on SmackDown to go for? We’ll have to wait and see for that one…
John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs The Club (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson)
This feud has been featured very heavily on Raw recently. The Club have finally been doing something well with the whole beating up John Cena mini-gimmick, so it surprised me to see AJ Styles being split apart from his NJPW buddies. However it’s interesting to see Styles and Cena drafted to the same brand. This means the feud continues to Summerslam in my eyes. The best way to book this would be having Cena, Enzo and Cass go over here to even up the feud, to then have AJ Styles go over Cena at Summerslam.
Charlotte and Dana Brooke vs Sasha Banks and a surprise partner of Sasha’s choice
There is no doubt in my mind that Sasha and her partner will win this one. Charlotte has not lost on a PPV since coming up to the main roster, a run stemming back over a year to Summerslam 2015. This is a perfect chance to give Sasha some credibility going into Summerslam this year. As for her mystery partner? Surely Bayley comes up to the main roster now? I still cannot believe she didn’t get drafted on Tuesday night, so this must be her debut on the main roster. Another name being mentioned is Nikki Bella which I wouldn’t mind. I’d be more interested to see a Sasha Banks vs Nikki Bella feud though!
Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens
I was really hoping these two would be drafted to different brands, but they’re now both on Raw. It would’ve had a much bigger impact on this match seeing as it might be the last time we see them together in one match. As much as I have enjoyed seeing them both feud, I’m looking forward to them feuding other people. We’ve seen them together so much in NXT and on the main roster, and we can even go back to El Generico vs Kevin Steen in Ring of Honour. Don’t get me wrong, the matches are gold, but I’d prefer to see them face other opponents. I think Zayn wins here, as he’s still yet to win a match versus Kevin Owens.
Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship
So here it is, the most anticipated match of the PG era has arrived.. On Battleground?! I will forever be scratching my head as to why it’s being wasted on such a small PPV. They could’ve even dropped Reigns and made it a singles match. Instead, we get the build up to a singles match between Rollins and Ambrose, but now we’ll just throw in the previously suspended Reigns. He return AT A HOUSE SHOW this week to build up for this match. Yeah, that’s right, the ‘go home show’ for this dream match was at a house show because of the suspension. Eurgh.
I do feel like we will be getting a second world title out of this. The loser who does not get pinned will want their rematch, but instead will be given the opportunity to fight for the returning World Heavyweight Championship. My prediction is to have Ambrose win here tonight by pinning Reigns. Rollins then can complain that he never actually lost the match, leading to a tournament being set up for Raw superstars for the new championship. If this doesn’t happen, Rollins wins and Ambrose goes looking for a rematch.
Do you agree with my predictions? Are you looking forward to Battleground? Have an idea of who Sasha’s partner will be? Let me know over on Twitter (@ImThatWWEGuy)! Thanks for your support guys, and stay tuned for a double post tomorrow for you!
