I’d just like to start off by saying that it’s been quite nice to see so many PPVs in a few weeks. They haven’t been slow with the build up, and they don’t dwell on the previous PPV. I would like to add that I thought Payback was a pretty good show, and so I’m hoping this streak can continue. With this being exclusive to the network, it will be different to a standard PPV, but I can’t decide if it will be for the better, or first the worst.
Bo Dallas vs Neville
It might just be a coincidence, but are these two having this match to showcase NXT? They had a very good rivalry in NXT, which is one of the flagship shows for the WWE Network. With this being a Network exclusive, they might want to try to entice people to stay subscribed to the network, just for NXT. I’m not really looking forward to this one though. Bo Dallas has one of the worst gimmicks I’ve seen right now, and we haven’t really seen too much of him in the ring lately. WWE would be stupid to go for anything other than a Neville win here. He’s one of the fan favourites around right now, and he still needs to look strong on the mid-card.
John Cena vs Kevin Owens
Again, I think Kevin Owens is here to promote NXT. I don’t think he’ll be ‘promoted’ to the main roster just yet, due to him holding the NXT Championship. Owens has looked extremely strong against Cena, but isn’t that what always happens with Cena being the underdog? I have a feeling Cena will win via disqualification. Owens will look strong in ‘beating’ Cena, and it puts NXT over. Again, I’m not looking forward to this, just because it’s a John Cena match, but I was proven wrong two weeks ago, so lets hope I’m wrong here too.
Naomi vs Paige vs Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship
I think we all know who I’d like to win here. Paige is the best diva on the main roster right now, and I’d love to see her get another reign as champion. However, this one could go 3 different ways. Paige is the most popular diva, and so the WWE might want to put the title on here. Naomi is extremely talented in the ring though, and many feel she’s long overdue for a title reign. Nikki has held the championship for a very long time, and so this would be once of the best chances to wipe AJ Lee’s record long title reign, after she abruptly left the WWE after WrestleMania. Saying this, I still want Paige to become a 3 time Divas Champion.
King Barrett vs Dolph Ziggler vs Rusev vs Ryback vs R Truth vs Sheamus – Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
I am so glad to see the elimination chamber back! Fast Lane built no excitement for me leading up to WrestleMania, and an elimination chamber would’ve been a lot better in that position. They have tried to make the Intercontinental Title look more prestigious, and they have done by focussing the main match on this title. R Truth’s placement here is bizarre, much like the booking at WrestleMania. Ziggler and Rusev already have a feud in which a title is not needed, so you can take them out of the equation. This leaves me with 3 men left, all of which could have a real good chance of winning. Many say Sheamus will win, but I have a strange feeling Ryback may win this. In an ideal world, I’d put it on Barrett again though, as I think he is one of their best mid carders.
The New Day vs Los Matadores vs Tyson Kidd and Cesaro vs The Lucha Dragons vs The Ascension vs The Prime Time Players – Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Tag Team Championships
This one has the potential to be either the best match of the night, or easily the worst. It needs to be booked extremely well for it to be great. One thing we can all count on though, is that it will be absolute mayhem! There can only be 3 winners, realistically in this one. The New Day are current champions, and they’re doing so well right now, so they are serious contenders. Tyson Kidd and Cesaro have been the best tag team this year, and of course have to be considered. The Lucha Dragons could be surprise winners here though. They were on a roll before Extreme Rules, but we haven’t seen too much of them since then. I hope Kidd and Cesaro win this though.
Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Dean Ambrose is red hot right now. I’m just so glad that the WWE decided to give him a shot tonight, rather than their poster boy to be, Roman Reigns. The closing segment on Raw was awesome, and it has actually got me excited. Since WrestleMania, I’ve been certain that Rollins would retain whenever he has defended, but here, I’m stuck. WWE seem to want to make the fans happy right now, and so Ambrose winning would be popular with everyone, but ultimately I want Seth Rollins to retain, as I think he’s still their best performer. But I would not be against Dean coming away with the title.
Just to let you know, I will be watching Elimination Chamber live on the network, so I’ll be tweeting live tonight (@ImThatWWEGuy). Be sure to send in your predictions for tonight, and I’ve been asking you guys some questions about wrestling, which have had a pretty good response, so I’m always active there. I hope you guys enjoy tonight, and I’ll be uploading my review, and Raw review in the next couple of days.
